How do you sit in your computer chair?
For the actual poll... which of the following ways do you sit at your computer most often?
Also... which do you think is best for your health? I'm sure sitting upright is much better for your posture and overall health, but I always find myself trying to find a way to elevate my feet. I usually slouch and have my chair turned a bit left so I can rest my feet on the bed next to my desk. This helps to make my legs more comfortable, but it puts more strain on my eyes to see the monitor and has given me very poor posture. This isn't meant to be directly poker-related, but I'm sure how you sit also affects how well you play. Comfort, amount of eye strain... it all leads to how often we make the best decisions at the table. |

Depends what I'm doing, normally I have pretty decent posture with my feet on something.

BTW, when I say "slouching" it is meant to imply slouching back into your chair... I forgot about just slouching forward, towards the monitor.

Also... which do you think is best for your health? I'm sure sitting upright is much better for your posture and overall health [/ QUOTE ] You'd think so, but it may be otherwise From the article (slashdot): "Researchers at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen, Scotland used a new form of magnetic resonance imaging to collect images from 22 healthy volunteers, who assumed three different sitting positions: slouching posture in which the body is hunched forward, an upright 90-degree sitting position, and a relaxed position where the subject reclined backward 135 degrees. They concluded that the reclined position is the best, and the forward slouch the worst." |

Re: How do you sit in your computer chair?
They really need to come out with some lazy boy type computer chairs. I find a slight slouch is most comfortable, but since there is nothing supporting my back my tail bone gets sore after a while. If they could make a computer chair with a slight tilt it would be perfect.

Re: How do you sit in your computer chair?
I wind up sitting in some sort of ball with my feet in my chair, because my office is so goddam cold. I'm sure all the middle aged men would do it too, if they could fit.

Re: How do you sit in your computer chair?
Those of you who do put your feet up on something, what do you put it on? Obviously if you use a stool or something, you have to put it to the side of the desk and then the eye strain problems I described happen.
