3 Bets to me on the Button with QQ
Foxwoods 20/40 Holdem, 2 folds to bad player (plays any ace, way too many hands, is up $2K) who raises, 2 folds to conservative player who raises to 60 (call him LP), folded to me on the button. I have 2 black queens.
Obviously 60 fromt this guy means something, and I take a few minutes to think. I do what is probably the worst thing possible - call. Big Blind also calls, along with original 3-bettor. 4 to the flop. Flop is 4 5 8 rainbow. first raiser (idiot) raises, LP raises, I call, big Blind folds, flop bettor calls. 3 to the turn. Turn is a 10. Checked to LP and he checks. I decide to think for a second, which is usually a bad idea. I bet, idiot calls, LP check raises, I call, idiot folds. River is meaningless, LP leads out, I call and lose to KK. What is the highest hand I can reasonably muck pre-flop? I know Tommy has his "I folded AA preflop" story which I think is just insane. But what about 3 bets to me with QQ on the button. Any way to fold this? I really thought about it for maybe 10 seconds and just couldn't convince myself to do it. Cost me $220. |

Personally I think you should have lost more. Unless LP has a PFR of like 5 and only 3-bets Aces or Kings this is a cap for me everytime.

You were obviously not comfortable in this spot and it showed on every street.

I cap without thinking preflop. If you're that terrified of AA or KK, use the small bet street action to get him to slow down on the big bet street action. Had it been me in this hand, I would have lost a lot more then you did...

You were obviously not comfortable in this spot and it showed on every street. [/ QUOTE ] From what I remember of Foxwoods, this is understandable when you're holding QQ and a conservative player 3-bets. OP: Cap pre-flop. If that doesn't slow him down after the flop, you can fold. If it does, you can take a cheaper line to showdown. |

[ QUOTE ] I know Tommy has his "I folded AA preflop" story which I think is just insane. [/ QUOTE ] Tommy's AA fold is not comparable to your situation. You just want to fold QQ because afterwards you were shown KK. [ QUOTE ] But what about 3 bets to me with QQ on the button. Any way to fold this? [/ QUOTE ] No, I cap this everytime. Unless you have some insane read that he only 3-bets QQ+ or KK+. Overall, poorly played and poorly posted. |

Re: 3 Bets to me on the Button with QQ
I think you can just fold in these marginal situations, that's probably easiest. I don't know the player or the game so you need to decide if it's a marginal situation.
FWIW, few players would make this a fold for me online. |

Re: 3 Bets to me on the Button with QQ
youd have to give me a person as to who this "conservative" person is, but there are only a handful that i would fold QQ PF to a 3 bet in that game... cap it for value. that game is soo disgustingly loose preflop its not even funny... played as is, and as loose as it is, the post flop play is usually much better. i would check behind on the turn because given the action, youre waaayyyyy behind... or find a fold on the turn or river... you beat absolutely nothing, even in that game.
