Professional Poker: The Essential Guide to Playing for a Living
is this a good starting point for going pro? Or is it not worth the time. Any other suggestions are welcome

Starting point?
I believe this would be a great book to read long before making an attempt at going pro. |

Re: Professional Poker: The Essential Guide to Playing for a Living
I have this book and its very light when it comes to any type of strategy. It's more of a book that deals with getting prepared for going pro. Apparantly there is going to be a 2nd and 3rd book also in the series.

correct me if I am wrong, but I flipped through Greenstein's Ace on the River today and these seemed to be very similar in content

There is some similar content and a few shared topics, but over-all I don't think they're even close.

IMHO, AOR is a great book, and PP is an OK book. Some respected posters hated AOR, others loved it. PP has never generated much heat either way. |
