I play at Barona very frequently, I have been thinking about playing at Viejas one of these days.

Barona has the best poker room in San Diego, in my opinion. I would rate Viejas a distant second, and I only go to Sycuan to play in cheap tourneys.

What to expect at Viejas:
--- Almost any game you want is going almost all the time, I'm talking 1/3 stud, omaha, 2/4 NLHE and most HE limits up to 20/40.

--- plenty of room, I've rarely had to wait more than 10-15 minutes for a game

--- pretty good management, they update the board instantly and are plenty friendly

--- crappy comps... I get free meals all the time at Barona, but Viejas stil charges for food that isn't that great.

As far as the competition, I turn a pretty good profit at Barona, but I'm a break even player at Viejas or maybe a little worse... does that mean Viejas has better players? Maybe. But I spend many more hours at Barona, so maybe it's just I have a smaller sample size at Viejas.

But 8 times out of 10, if I want a cash game I go to Barona. Hope this helps.

I went to Sycuan for the first time back in October. Once I took the exit off of the 8, it seemed like it took forever to get to the casino. Of the four casinos I checked out during my trip, I liked Pechanga the best. Lots of tables, good action, and good promos. The only complaint is their cards. The decks they used when I was playing were pretty cheap and curved in at the sides. Other than that, I'd go there again even though it is a bit further of a drive than the others.

ya ive played at sycuan, viejas, oceans 11, and morongo. Ive played the most at sycuan and viejas but the one time i went to morongo the players were absolutely horrible but of course its probably a sample size issue. I heard barona doesnt have many tables running? Can u specify what it has (such as tables running) during weekdays afternoon and night and also weekend afternoon and night?

Barona generally spreads a mix of 3/6 and 4/8 LHE tables that account for the greater majority of the games being run. However, they also run a few tables of 1/3 (300 Max) and occasionally (depending which day of the week) a 5/5 (300-1k max) game. Also splashed in there is a 60 max NL game, which basically is flipping coins for 60 bucks/pop. I play the 1/3 game and the 5/5 game when its going.

A friend of mine plays at Sycuan a lot and tells me there's quite a bit of action from 1/2-2/4 NL and 5/10 on weekends, but he only plays 1/2 and he's not good, so I can't say for sure how factual this is.

At Viejas there is pretty much always a 1/3 NL game going, usually 2+. I think the 1/3 usually sucks, but there's still money to be made. NL isn't really my thing, but 2/5 seems to get off the ground Fri-Sun always, and fairly often on Thursday. Other than that it's hit or miss, but I was in a fantastic 2/5 game last night there. I'm told that last Friday the 5/10 NL went, but that's the first time I've ever heard of it going.

If you play limit then 8/16 generally gets started later in the afternoon/night on Mon-Weds (I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't start though), Thursday is sort of weird, as I've been there and they've had 2 full games some times then other times I can't get a single game started. Fri-Sun is wavy gravy for 8/16. 20/40 had been going on Fridays only Summer-Fall, but I was basically the only one that would bother the floor to start it shorthanded, so when I quit going around Halloween it basically died. When I'm there the list is usually just me until 8 at night or so when some other people get on the list that won't play short, so aside from some freak situation the only way 20/40 is going to go is if I can get someone to play HU, and if I don't think you suck I won't play you. It would be awesome if some people started going to build the list and have the game actually go again though. There are usually about a billion 3/6 games going if that's your choice.

2/4 and 5/10 have been dead as of late at Sycuan, actually for quite a while now. The games have moved over to the Palomar Club and Oceans.
