raise bigger preflop, then the rest of the hand plays it self.

[ QUOTE ]
raise bigger preflop, then the rest of the hand plays it self. [/ QUOTE ] Not really. I do suggest making a pf raise of about 200, but if everyone still calls (a very good likelihood at the 5.50's), the pot only grows by 150. That doesn't make this hand any easier to play. The flop play isn't so simple as weak bet = push over it. It would be a lot easier to analyze if you provided stacks. Use this converter as it doesn't leave out stack information from your HH. Just be sure to change the format from the defaulted FlopTurnRIver to 2+2. From the betting, I'll assume the two principles have about 1500 and 1200. With the pot at 525 prior to Villains initial bet, and 625 after it, I'd push here. A good reraise to ~650 would be committing nearly half your remaining stack. You've got a good hand now, go broke with it. I put villain on (at best) two pair. AT is something I can see. AJ is less likely since you have the other two jacks. AK/AQ probably gets raised pf, and that can be said for AA too. KQ is the only hand that beats you here, and you have plenty of outs even if he does have that (7 on the flop, 10 on the turn). |

Re: $5.50 JJ flop push, trip vs straight draw
Preflop, 200 or 250 -
Flop - You played fine, you are really only raising 820, as thats all UTG had left. Anything else you raise would basically commit them anyway, and if they have ace king (right?), its not like they are folding. Don't worry about it, either you go broke or double up on that flop, up to Stars, not you. |
