Upgrade Request - Lock+Reply, w/o bump
I generally do my mopping up in STTF in the morning when I first get to work. What is especially true if I hadn't been active the night before - is that page 1 looks like a bomb exploded
I DO like to leave a lock reply for just about all of them. Certainly if the reply is helpful to the forum at large and/or future would-be-crap-posters. But the vast majority are more out of courtesy. I get that PM'ing is a valid option. But in short, is it possible to upgrade the software so that I can make a lock-reply without bumping the thread? We'd need an added Reply option to locked threads - where said reply wouldn't bump. Plausible? |

Re: Upgrade Request - Lock+Reply, w/o bump
If the thread isn't already near the top, I just leave my mod notes in the OP so it won't bump the thread.

Yeah, thanks...I have done that on occasion. It probably is better than the alternatives (assuming the upgrade suggestion isn't doable). |

<3 bluefeet for cleaning up the mess.
but, seriously man, you don't have to be that nice about stuff. you could just trash whole threads you know... if you were one step nicer than trsahing you could trash and send a PM to the OP... a step nicer i guess is locking with no note, but then you go and go all the way to locking AND leaving a note? i think maybe the "best" work-around at the moment would be to edit the OP, and leave a note in the FAQ or something saying that when things are locked we will edit the top post to include why, possibly even editting the title to include "locked" or something? who knows. post new years we'll figure it out. c |
