I think it'd be cool if everyone who has played a new game on the Wii could write up a short review so we could see which games are worth buying. I'll start.
Zelda: awesome, obv. Excite Truck: Actually a pretty fun game. Unlike most racing games where you try to cross the finish line first, the goal of Excite Truck is to destroy as much stuff before you get to the finish line. The controls work pretty well, the soundtrack is good, and you can perform some cool jumps and tricks. Not much replay value but good for at least a few hours of entertainment. Call of Duty 3 and Red Steel: I'm not a big fan of first person shooter games so I might be a little biased. I don't really care much for these games. The controls don't seem to work that well and personally I think games like this are probably much better on an Xbox 360. Rampage: Good for mindless, arcade-style fun. You can play the older NES/N64 Rampage games which is a big plus. |

Although none are extremely well developed, it is still quite enjoyable as a party game. The single player is much shorter than in the past, but is still pretty good IMHO. |

Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Excellent game that uses the Wiimote in very creative ways. Get ridicuolo hard in the later levels (you can set it to easy, but that's like saying "I'm a loser so I'll pick loser mode now"), but it's a good kind of hard. Like the olden days of video games hard. The kind of hard that builds up good tension. Like when your patient is 3 seconds way from flatlining and you have to surture all those damn cuts. Rayman Raving Rabbids Rabbids are funny as hell. But the game doesn't really hold up single player. Might be good for a lard with a few friends. Drunk. |

[/ QUOTE ] Seconded. This game is amazing and does get really challenging later on. Madden on the Wii would be great if it had an online multiplayer. The controls take some getting used to but it's pretty satisfying. Zelda- Obviously great possibly the best Zelda ever Red Steel- Fun but not great. Definitely worth renting and I'm not displeased with having bought it. I really want to check out Elebits, Rayman, and Excite Truck. I'm also pretty happy about the ability to play all the Gcube games I missed because I didn't own one. So I'm going to be picking up copies of Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime Echoes in the near future. |

Zelda - I liked playing OOT better, but I think that TP is a much better made game.
Monkey Ball - Best multiplayer game out at the moment. Not as good as the gamecube version. Not extremely fun, but good as a party game until something better comes out. Marvel - I hate it. Worst RPG I've ever played. You control 1 of 4 characters that are always playing. So even if you don't do anything you will still pretty much kill everything. Perhaps if you always have 4 people to play with it would be fun, but not worth it IMO. |

Has anyone played Far Cry? I rented it and its pretty cool so far. Controls took a little getting used to because you always have to have the remote pointed in the right spots, but once you get that down its fun. Im not very far so I cant really tell if its going to get better or not.
I also have Marvel and barely played it. Its not bad Im just not into it right now. Its just like X Men Legends I and II, which I have so its not like I dont enjoy the type of game. Zelda, everyone knows about. Im playing it along with a friend who is only over a couple times a week so its annoying not beating it already, far enough in the game to not want to start from the beginning though. |

I tried to get into it, but the graphics turned me way off. I was really excited about it too, so that sucks. I've been avoiding it ever since. Rented Super Swing Golf the other day. A better golf sim than the Wii Sports version, but why does it have to be so anime/gay/stupid graphics-wise? I'm really putting a lot of faith in Tiger '07 just kicking all ass. It had better do so. I must admit, I'm pretty disappointed with the game offerings thus far. I thought the motion-sensing capabilities would add a lot more realism to games, especially sports games. Basically, I wan't to be able to swing the WiiMote like a golf club and have it accurately detect the plane, clubhead speed, position of the WiiMote at impact (open/closed face etc), and follow-through, if not much much more. So far I'm getting discouraged that this is even possible. I would love for someone to prove me wrong. I understand that "game developers need to learn the new capabilities of the Wii before they can exploit it to it's fullest potential." Well, if that's the case, don't waste my time and money with half-assed offerings, and work harder... I'll wait. |

i find it interesting that you expect a game developer to go from "use the arrows to aim, now hit a to start your power meter and hit a again to stop it" which has been used for like 25 years to suddenly go right to [ QUOTE ]

Madden uncovers what I feel is a more satisfying way to play the game, but that is probably just because I'm so freaking bored with the same old game year after year. The controls can be somewhat frustrating, especially on defense where they are not really intuitive at all, but wholly just a refreshing experience. I expect big things out of the next version.
I couldn't stand Rayman. Sure, the games were various, but I couldn't help but think that I was doing the same thing over and over again. The rhythm game and the shooter were fun, but the rest of the games were just boring. Using the same cutscenes at every level was quite dull. Overall, very disappointing. Trauma Center was so much fun to play. I stopped playing Zelda altogether while I blew through this game a couple of times (yes, mostly on "Loser" setting). It's just totally different than anything I've ever played and I was drawn in from the start. So imaginative. Sure, it's just a DS port, but I'd never played that version, so it was brand new to me. The presentation of the storyline and dialogue were pretty lame, but forgivable. When surgery starts it's just so intense. It doesn't have a ton of replayability unless you are a goal whore who must master every level, but I'd consider it the perfect rental game. |
