Default cullusion or teaming up in SNG

hola 2+2ers-

playing in a $100 sng at the Borgata this weekend when it came down to three. a fellow and a lady had been bonding since the beginning, talking it up and it ended up with the two of them and myself fighting it out for the money. He was the chip leader and when I raised his blind he went all in. When I folded and the two of them were involved they agreed to check it down. The dealer said they weren't allowed to make such agreements but by then the arangements had been made. Whatever, I was the better player and I thought, I'll be able to pull out of this one without making a scene. Well I got it in with the shortstack with the best of it, she won. We went in again with me as a dog and she won and that was all she wrote. I walked away a bit miffed.

Any suggestions on what I could have or should have done? What can I expect the floor to do if I complain? Thanks so much.

The time to bring the floor in is when the dealer makes his statement that they are not allowed to collude. The proper ruling if they are colluding is a warning and then a penalty. You waited too long.

Also, your strategy needs to change when you suspect collusion.

Now, I assume that only the top 2 are paid? After the fact, it is tough to complain.

What would be a strategy if you suspect collusion?
