The kid in this hand is a very poor-playing nit. Although he is a quiet Asian kid, he found the courage to berate me for 3betting with QJs from the BB when he open-raised from the SB.

Here's the hand.

Kid open-limps from EP. I raise with KK from the HJ. Chris, a not-so-good LAG with random tendencies 3bets me from the CO. Folded to the kid who calls 2 more cold. I 4bet, both call.

Flop: AhKhTs

Kid donks out into us. I raise, Chris 3bets, kid 4bets, I cap, Chris finally folds, kid calls.

Turn: 8s

Kid checks, I bet, kid raises, I call

River: 9d

Kid bets, I say "I guess I have to pay you off........Wait, no I don't." Then I muck.

So there you go, Joe. Not only do I make a big fold in a huge pot, I manage to make a production out of it. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

nope still dont get it. i think you may have folded the winner. why cant kid have TT or AK and he hates you so he's taking a strong line against you? i dont see why he would have QJ no matter what.

also i dont think you should cap the flop. i think you should wait and raise the turn.

The kid doesn't hate Doug. This is after I left but when I was there they were friendly and chatty.

Also I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure kid raises AK and TT.

The OP certainly isn't good here if the kid is one of those scared kid knits. The flop donk sends off warning bells for me. I don't even think I'd cap here. Call the 3bet and call down is my line. Thats because I think I'm going to lose but I'm not folding anyway...

Cos I won't fold a set, almost never anyway...

You're right, his hand doesn't add up to anything but QJ, but remember that you should always include some % for your opponents getting way way out of line. I'd say that number depends highly on the table image you have going. What was it?

Also, interesting read of chris, I would characterize his play as better then 'not-so-good' if we're talking about the same person. He definitely makes mistakes but I didn't notice very many large ones.

My image? Def. not out of control. I won every pot in the first hour of the table forming, when it was 5 handed, but for the 4 hours afterward, I tightened up considerably and calmed down.

In short, the exact wrong kind of image/flop to take a shot at me.

Sounds like he doesn't understand hand strength and position. Like TT from EP or even AKo may be a limp to him, do you think there is a 5% chance of that?
