Party Account was illegally accessed
Hey all,
My party poker account was hacked into, and a $6,000 deposit made on my credit. Immediately after, the money was lost to another account. I call Party up today, and they tell me they will do what they can, but I might end up owing the money. In which case, I say "[censored] you." Does anyone here have similar stories, or know what could happen? I closed my bank account (before the transaction processed) so that my account wouldn't be negatively charged the 6 grand. Say they can't recover the money and they try to pin it on me. What can Party Poker do if I don't pay? -Ernie S. Irwin |

Re: Party Account was illegally accessed
I would change passwords on all your poker sites, neteller, firepay, and check any other bank accounts you might have registered to party or firepay/neteller. Also go to mcafee.com get their trial version of their virus scanner and do a full system scan on your machine. Lastly, contact your bank on the phone and tell them an illegal EFT for 6k is going to try to process on your account.
Tough break, keep constantly talking with party's support. They should at least know the IP your account was logged in from. |

Re: Party Account was illegally accessed
Party could possibly try to negotiate with your bank. Your bank will probably take your side rather than Party's, however.
Party will most likely not hold you accountable though, especially if you called before the recipient of the chip dump was able to cash out before you called. They still may be able to reverse their cashout. I think calling the bank and telling them there was a fraudulent charge may have been in order rather than closing the account, though perhaps they wouldn't appreciate being told they're channeling funds to quasi-legal gambling sites. Good luck! |

I'm just curious. How did you know it was lost to a specific account?

Just closing the account isn't enough, you want them to know why so that if there is ever a dispute with party, the bank takes your side and your credit isn't ruined. |
