John Holmes is in the lead midway through the 3rd round of the FBR Classic. The driver 8-iron into a 595 yard par 5 is impressive.

If Long John Holmes becomes a fixture among the tour elite in the future this could be THE sports story of our generation.

His prodigous length stands out most.

Another interesing story was how he played 10 years of high school golf, beginning in 3rd grade.

Huh? I just haven't been keeping up with golf news lately. I see that he won Q-school and was good at a very young age. I don't see why that's THE GREATEST STORY EVER or why my age would have anything to do with it.
