10/25 UB HU 300+ BB\'s Deep v. Stevesbets...bluff inducer
HU v. Stevesbets 10/25
The match has been pretty crazy thus far. He has approx 8100, I cover. He had run up his stack good vs. someone else and then I came in and fairly quickly have built my stack up to 8800. He has been playing extremely aggressively preflop OOP, reraising tons of hands like k7o, etc. However, he has not been that aggressive after the flop and he check folds a lot more than most players. That said, he reraises more than most pre so this makes sense, kind of. Post flop I have gotten him to stack off a few times by chk calling the river, which he has potted or overbet many times. The two play for stacks hands were as follows: Hand 1: I reraise QQ from SB, flop comes K6x I bet he calls. Turn blank I chk call. River is a Q I chk he overbet shoves I call he has just 64 for one pair. Hand 2: I have A10 he raises button, I call Flop is A107 two spades, I chk raise, he calls. Turn blank non flush I bet he calls river A I chk he pots for 100bbs (at this point), I chk raise all in for like 2.2k more he folds. He has grown pretty frustrated and has started to not only play his usual preflpo aggro style but has been getting much more aggro, postflop, as well. Comments on all streets are welcome. I am wondering what you think of my river block/value bet as both a cheap showdown move/bluff inducer. This was a pretty different play than one I normally make and I severely underrepresented the strength of my hand. Hand in Question: He has 8100, I cover. I have ThT He raise pre I just call. Normally I reraise but I decided to mix it up. Flop is Qd 9h 2h (Pot 150) He pots, I call. Turn 2c. (Pot 450) I chk he pots again, I call. River is a 3c (Pot 1350), I bet 950. He thinks for a few seconds and overbet shoves all in. What do you think he has, and what does my hand look like to him? Do you call? Thanks, dlpnyc21 |

your line represents so few big made hands. i would fold to the shove.

what are the worst hands you think he can, in his mind, value shove?

I'm not a fan of your river bet at all.....I think he can def valueshove AQ, maybe even KQ, probably nothing worse, but your hand looks like a pretty transparent midpair or weak Q at best
edit - didn't realize you were thinking of calling a shove....in that case it's very hard to say how good it is, although it is certainly very risky, but if there's a player to try this against it's probably stevesbets |

Hang on - you bet river to induce a shove, and now you are asking what you should do in face of his shove?

i hate ur river play without a plan. [/ QUOTE ] he called it a bluff inducer. i'm 95% sure that he called. I'm 92% sure that he won. I'm 90% sure that he posted to brag. but he may also want confirmation that his plan was not reckless. |

but he may also want confirmation that his plan was not reckless. [/ QUOTE ] i understand that, but he's the only one who can answer that. i mean, is it reckless? in general, hell yes. in the context of the match? well, only he can really answer that. |

Re: 10/25 UB HU 300+ BB\'s Deep v. Stevesbets...bluff inducer
Did you guys read the flow description of the previous two hands, where both times I checked river and the villian (who many on this board are familiar with, which is the reason I posted) either overbet bluff shoved, or POTTED (which was a 100bb bet with the stack sizes) then folded to my river CR.
My theory is that my hand is most likely best. If I did not think so, I would have folded on the turn. I called the turn and evaluated the river. I bet the river for two reasons. 1. To try and get a call from a 9. I also didn't want to be faced with a big river overbet. 2. As a bluff inducer. I think I was prepared to call a raise, but a shove here was such a big overbet, that I became fairly scared that he had flopped or turned huge. All draws missed. In the villians mind, wouldn't you just call with a Q or a 9? It doesn't make that much sense to raise with those hands because my line looks a lot like a draw. Yet he still goes all in anyway. This is not a brag post at all, I don't think I have posted a brag post before ever on these boards, but I will post restuls later. This is a genuine question about what river action most would take on this board. Would you chk call if he bets pot, would you chk call if he overbets pot? the only line that doesn't seem to make much sense is a checkraise. Thanks, dlpnyc21 |
