Stupid laptop fan won't shut off.

Hi:

Ok, it shuts off at times, but some days it just does not shut off no matter what I do. I restart the computer a bunch of times, it just does not matter...it always starts again, and it is very loud.

The comp. is just over the one year warranty, so I cannot bring it in for free service.

Is there anything I can do? Or should I just buy a new cheap laptop?

Don't know if it matters, but it is an Acer Aspire 3000.
