Default Street Drummer (Using Buckets)

This Guy Is Intense

Notice how he holds one of the buckets down by the lip [of the bucket] w/his left foot, and he alters its tone by lifting it up and down w/his right foot as needed. The drum-fill that starts at 00:35 and ends on 00:40 displays this really well.

Also, does anybody know of street drummers who play in the Los Angeles area? I've never seen one perform in person. [I kinda think of this as a something you're more likely to see in New York.]

There are places at which this guy could make a lot of money.

There is an old, seemingly homeless guy that plays the harmonica, banjo or guitar and sings that is always around the U of MN. He is really, really good. It is such a delight to walk by him on a Friday night all wasted. He can get a pretty big crowd on occasion.

Sounds good, why don't you start a random poll to see if others agree.

I have seen this in both New Orleans and Savannah.

The guy in Savannah was doing it on River Street in the pedestrian walkway that goes through the Hyatt hotel. It is probably about 100 yards long x 10 yards wide so the sound reverberates throughout. If the minute and a half in the original link was the extent of that guys repetoire he would be blown away by the guy in Savanah.

I imagine he was probably pulling in $50-100 hour on Friday and Saturday nights.

There is usually at least one at almost all times in either Fanueil Hall or Downtown Crossing.

Most of them are pretty sick drummers and I imagine they'd be able to pummel a drumkit if they had access to one.
