Default QJs: short and (maybe) spewing 20/40

20/40. Full game has shrunk to six. I've been very card dead and the game is highly aggressive. The times I have opened I've not seen much action. I should be seen as the tighest guy at the table and recent play has been on the passive side.

Hero: UTG +1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Opens
Villain UTG +2: 3 Bets
Folded to BB: Calls
Hero: Call ($20)

Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
BB: bets
Hero: Raises
Villain: Reraises
BB: Folds
Hero: Calls

Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Hero: check
Villain: Bet
Hero: Raises
Villain: 3 Bets
Hero: Caps
Villain: Calls

River: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Hero: Bet
Villain: Raise
Hero: Call

Thoughts and comments appreciated (as shorthanded is not my forte).

Looks fine to me. Even if the A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] wasn't on board I can't see stopping short of where you did. Esp given your "game is very aggro" read.

Why did you slow down on the river? I would have capped it. Did you think he three-bet you preflop with K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]? What am I missing here?

I forgot hero held the jack. Ya, I'd prob just 3 town the river. Or c/r it and call a 3, but really, if the game is that aggro I love the online 4 bet cap and don't much mind doing it here.

i agree w/ greywolf...the only hand combo that beats you is KTs (would he even 3bet the tightest player with this hand?) since the other big hearts are out of the picture...his hand is almost def a set/AQ here...you should 3bet and call a cap...

i prefer a river b/3b over a rive c/r because we put in the last turn action...i think betting gives us the best chance to get 3bets on the river since a c/r here will look tricky and may slow down villain...

That's the conflict. The preflop three bet with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] seems unlikely but after he's seen me cap the turn and lead the river what hand can he have that would justify his putting in more bets against me with my image.

After the turn and river action, I tend to give that greater weight than what would be an unusual preflop play.

What hand can he put me on in capping the turn and leading the river? That's what I couldn't answer.

Agree with jfk.

I hate a river 3-bet. You can't take a PF read and steadfastly refuse to change it despite turn and river action that makes that read obsolete. He 3-bet/called the turn and raised a non-heart river. He clearly doesn't just have the K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and he would be insane to raise with a set. Bet/call is the only line I can think of on the river that doesn't sound awful, and I'm not too crazy about putting in 2 river bets as it is.

I think a read would be awesome. And, PJ, I think you likely underestimate the retard-factor.

I forget who the exact opponent was (very possibly one of you). The safe default read based on the site's population is he/she was a tight, aggressive competent regular against whom I've played many hands. They would not have seen my turn/river play as a speculative foray.
