If you could live for 2000 years at the expense of...
A genie approaches you and offers you an option.
Option 1: She erases your memory of her and your life remains the same. Option 2: Your life is transformed. You now have a life expectancy of 2000 years. However, noone can see you or hear you. You are essentially a ghost with no way of communicating with any form of life. This means that you cannot alter anything that will affect something's life. If you move or alter something, it has to be changed back before anyone notices that it has been changed. You will remain in the state of health that you are currently in and experience day in and day out. You are in an ageless state. You are still human and you can die if you incur bodily harm, deprive yourself of essential human needs or do damage to yourself in one form or another, only your body parts won't wear out. Your stomach can explode if you over eat, however. You still maintain all your senses. At any point that you want or need something tangible that is currently accessible to other humans, you can manifest it instantaneously through your thoughts. This includes food, beverages, tvs, medicine, etc. These things are also invisible to others. You cannot manifest life forms such as pets or friends or transportation devices other than modern mobiles that can only explore earth. You can travel anywhere with a manifested automobile of yours. This car can crash and you can die if youre not careful. If the car breaks down you can manifest another. If you want to hop on a space shuttle you'll have to travel alongside other humans that are also piloting it, but you'll have to return with them or be stranded. You could stalk some chick while pleasuring yourself to her but you will never be able to make contact with a human being. You cannot commit suicide. You can use computers but you cannot interact with humans. Cliff Notes: You can live for 2000 years and basically go anywhere or do anything but you can never make contact with another life form ever again. |

If I can die I really can't do anything I want without a big cost. Am I missing something?

For me this is actually a tough question. Escape death for a longer period of time, but be forced with the hell of 2K years of no contact.
I am going to ponder this for a while before I vote |

[/ QUOTE ] you thinking like climbing mt. everest and skydiving and crap? anyway i think it's an easy no. the only really awesome thing about this is being able to create things at will. any food you want, etc. observing the world change would be ok too, but i think i would eventually rather kill myself than live without contact with other people. in other words, 2000 years is probably no better than allowing me to live 300 years like this. after that long, i think i would be over the whole thing. give me 1 year every 10 years to become visible and i would do it (allowing me to keep all of my knowledge). actually crap, i would do it for 1 of 20 years. you could stalk people invisibly and then do some CRAZY stuff in the "visible" year. |

I'm not sure what the point of life is if you're only able to watch. It almost seems like signing up for 2000 years of some sort of purgatory. Easy no.

So if you tried to drive your car off a cliff on purpose, you wouldn't do any harm to yourself, but if it was an accident, you'd be deformed for the remaining years?

Option 2 might be fun for a few weeks or months, maybe even a year max. Travel around, observing every facet of this planet and learning a ton. Enjoy lots of manifested things.
But after that it'd be very, very bad IMO. No way I'd agree to these terms. |
