Default OT: Goggles needs life help, part deuce.

Well, in my first life help thread, you all told me to stay in school and finish. You fed me all this BS about getting a degree and yadda yadda yadda. I friggin quit and made a bunch of money. Yes, yes, I value all of your advice, and hope a lot of the people I respect/like on this forum decide to chime in to help out with part deuce of "HELP IWEARGOGGLES LIVE LIFE"

So here is my situation:

I'm 21, making money, living in Pittsburgh, PA. I want to move out, but I don't know where...or how...or with who. I feel like I have a crazy opportunity to make tons of money, but I barely play poker while in Pittsburgh. I sit around and play videogames/watch movies/maybe an hour of poker. It isn't healthy. My goal for 2007 is 500k. Will I do that living here? I doubt it.

So is it that easy to just leave? I live with 2 college kids in a semi-decent little apartment. I'm binded with the lease until August or whatever, but I think I could easily find someone to move in with these 2 studs should I decide to leave.

But yes, I do have friends and family. My grandmother is 76 years old and lives alone. I help out with taking care of her. My sister had a baby in July and he is flat-out precious. My mother also hates the thought of me leaving for even 2 weeks, but I guess they could all deal with it. I mean, I was taking my uncle to the airport today, and he was in the same situation. Struggling in Pittsburgh, wanted to leave, everyone got upset, he ended up happier. He obviously told me to get the hell out of Pittsburgh. I do have the money to move. That isn't a factor. I will be traveling a bunch in 2007 also, although I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

Basically, I want to move, but no idea where, with who, or how +EV it would be. I hope STTF is capable of allowing me to see all angles of such a big decision. Contrary to the previous life advice thread, I have NOT made any sort of solid decision, and I'm not really leaning to either side.

HELP ME!!!!

Lovingly yours,

IWEARGOGGLES

EDIT: I would be attempting to live with another poker player who is able to play >1 hour a day.

Yeah, get the hell out of PENNSYLVANIA. There is absolutely no opportunity in Pennsylvania and until the state government pulls their head out of their asses, it's going to stay that way.

If you're going to travel, then use that time as your "get-away" and enjoy it. Your family sounds like they are all close. How long have you ever been away from home? If you end up leaving for awhile, your parents/family will get over it and understand eventually.

You have to do what you feel is best for you.

Get ahold of Gobboboy and move out west.

some factors i would consider in this decision:

a) what places you would want to live in general (geographically)
b) what people you would want to live with (people that you enjoy, that you think you could live with, get along with, etc)
c) would both the location and people youd want to live with be beneficial to you with your poker/moneymaking goals (specifically, would someone that you may want to live with inhibit youre doing poker things, travelling, etc and as far as location, would living in that place make it harder to travel to tournaments and the like)

i feel like answering all of these questions and finding solid, accomodating answers will point you in the right direction. id also keep your family in the loop and stress that you do care and are here for them but you do need to do this for yourself and your job so its still important. good luck, keep us posted.

I'm not all that concerned about opportunity in PA, as anywhere I go I just need a computer...

Well, most of my traveling is going to be written off as work anyways, as I'll have to file as a professional in 2007. I'm very close to my family and my mother cries when I leave for >1 week.

LOL gobboboy.

A) Somewhere not freakishly cold.
B) Someone who is good at poker (IE I won't be coaching him for free) Not so sound like a dick, but I'd like to live with someone who would challenge me.
C) I'm hoping that whoever I live with doesn't suck at being social and would want to travel with me. I also wish she would have big ones, but I doubt that will happen.

Clear cut answer, right?

I mean, opportunity, as in, things to do. Yeah you are in Pittsburgh with the Pirates/Steelers, but casinos? I heard they are going to build one near the Carnegie Science Center, but how good will it be? What else does PA have? Crappy weather, mountains, hills...

So I guess my next question is, what are you looking to do? If you only need a computer, why do you want to go anywhere?

I graduated in June and have been looking for work. This sounds much more appealing. Yeah, I just met gobbo at TS the other day. We could make him do the cleaning and stuff.

Just a thought, but how far is Philadelphia to Pittsburg?

I know Phily is not far from Atlantic City for live poker play. Maybe close enough to home to visit family often, and can get flights out to travel pretty easy.

I don't personally know Philadelphia all that well, it just seems good geographically for everything.
