Default Ultimate Fight Night 7: 12/13/2006

Wednesday brings us Ultimate Fight Night 7, the latest iteration of the free Ultimate Fighting MMA events on Spike TV.

Here's the full card:

1. Diego Sanchez (16-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) vs. Joe Riggs (25-8 MMA, 4-3 UFC)

2. Jeff Joslin (5-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Josh Koscheck (7-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC)

3. Drew Fickett (27-4 UFC, 3-2 UFC) vs. Karo Parisyan (15-4 MMA, 5-2 UFC)

4. Marcus Davis (9-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) vs. Shonie Carter (34-15-7 MMA, 3-2 UFC)

5. Victor Valimaki (8-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. David Heath (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC)

6. Alan Belcher (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) vs. Jorge Santiago (11-6 MMA, 1-1 UFC)

7. Dave Menne (39-14-2 MMA, 2-3 UFC) vs. Luigi Fioravanti (9-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC)

8. Keita Nakamura (13-0-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Brock Larson (18-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC)

9. Logan Clark (3-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Steve Byrnes (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC)

Or check out the card with some more details on the UFC website.

Some of these fights should be really, really good. Sanchez vs Riggs is highly anticipated as a pretty serious test for Diego. We should see if Koschek's development has continued and if he's ready to take the next step to a more serious fight. And the Fickett / Parisyan fight should be the best of the night, two great young fighters trying to take their game to the next level.

I'll have my usual round of predictions posted sometime today, but if you're interested in trying your own hand at calling all the fights, check out this free UFN:7 prediction contest at UFCJunkie.com: winner gets an autographed 8x10 photo of UFC middleweight Rich Franklin.

I pick Sanchez, Koscheck and Parisyan but that's no surprise.

I've been really impressed by Koscheck's improvement. I wouldn't be surprised if he was better than Diego within a year.

Jeff Joslin is really good. Don't underestimate him. I say joslin will take fight 2. (as an aside, I participated in the beginner Gi division of Joslins Grappling tourney this year, 205 pounds if anyone else was there )

Yeah, I don't really know anything about Joslin. I just know I used to hate Koscheck's fighting, but he really, really has impressed lately now that he learned how to fight instead of just wrestle and stall.
