Default 77 in bb

10/20, 5 handed. Not using PT, but UTG is at two of my tables, in an earlier hand, he defended his bb vs. my sb open and called A-rag flop, and folded to turn bet.

UTG opens, only I call.
Flop is 5c8c9c
I check, call

Turn is 9h
I check-raise, he calls.

River is As
I check-fold.

Ok?

I don't like this move with air because he's calling the turn with virtually any club and probably a lot of gutshots, too.

EDIT: Oh, your hand is in the title, 77. I'd rather b/c the turn than c/r. As played I think I fold the river, you're line is going to cause even 8s to check behind lots its so confusing.

Do you say if you have a club?

This is a tricky variation of a very common situation. I think I like bet/call, bet/call, c/f.

In fact, I might favor assuming that line on any monotone low card flop w/ a small pair HU, no draw.

W/ a club, I'm not sure what I'd change.

I rather c/ the flop than the turn, do you have a club? Mostly I just call down here, not getting fancy.

villain checking behind an 8 is an argument for calling not folding

when he bets ur in worse shape vs (bluffs + all better hands) than (bluffs + some better hands)

op, i think u should call river. u bloated the pot with a misguided turn c/r and ur still ahead of a pretty substantial chunk of his range on the river before he bets

Good post gehrig. He might easily take a shot here with a missed club draw and no ace. I think I would have either been more aggressive on the flop or donked the turn.

If you're going to represent trip nines, a straight or flush on the turn, you have to continue with the bluff on the river.

I think you chose a risky and expensive way to play your hand and on this board the way you played it, you often will just force an overpair into c/c mode.

I'd rather just bet out on the flop, and if just called, bet out on the turn.
