is attractiveness a bigger advantage for males or females?

i think classic wisdom is that it's a bigger advantage for females, but i disagree. i think attractive men are treated better than unattractive men both by women and by other men. attractive women are obviously treated better than unattractive women by men, but i think they are, in many cases, treated worse by other women.

I think men treat attractive and unattractive men very similarly in most situations.

All things being equal, think it's better to be an attractive male than female (also I thought this was conventional wisdom on this).

Men aren't as catty, so a good looking guy doesn't pose a threat to his buddies, unlike with chicks (as mentioned).

Also, guys age much better in general - shelf life is key here.

I think this is all true. But I still think attractive females have a larger advantage over unattractive ones than attractive males have over unattractive ones.

if your an ugly female, you are screwed. Ugly guy have it rougher than attractive men, but they can still do totally fine. An ugly chick is going to have a really tough guy getting a quality man. The only area where unattractive guys really loose out is on one night stands. They can still pull hot chicks, although its tougher.

edit: OP I agree with you, better looking guys are treated better than ugly guys by everybody. They are assumed to be smarter, more successful,kinder, and cooler.

You're so wrong it's hilarious but one case I can think of that you might be correct is sex. Very attractive men can get laid constantly, while average/unattractive men will tend to struggle. On the other hand pretty much any women under 200 pounds could bring a guy home from the bar on any given night.

One point I think is that, it depends on what area of life you are talking, as good looking woman will have a tough time getting people to take them seriously, in most "non-sex-related" areas, like math/science jobs etc.
