I'd probably fold third on this one. If you think you can get it heads-up with the bring-in by raising, do so, but if the game is that tight, I'd find something else to do with my time. There are just too many low cards behind you to bother with this one, I think.

Fourth would ordinarily be a fold when facing 54 and 43, but the pot is big enough that I think you can take one off.

By fifth, your hand has gone to hell. Definitely fold here.

Third is still an easy fold. On the first pass. Fourth too.

Default Re: stud hi lo situation with split kings

it's clear you have a stud high mentality interfering with sound 8/b strategy. Middle pairs shouldn't be played except HU vs the bi, even with your kicker. You must be reasonably sure you have the best high hand, so when you see over cards be conservative and fold a pair of queens with a king or especially an ace yet to act. In stud high, it's ok to play medium pairs with overcard kickers because you're playing for the entire pot, and players are less likely to have the big pair they're representing in the first place. Extreme caution should be using when playing split big pairs other than aces because low hands can put a ton of pressure on you. Make sure they're totally live and are playing against as few opponents as possible.
