Default TotalScience, Sitting and Going.

Whats up?

I want to say hi to this forum and introduce myself a little bit.

As of about a month ago I had lost almost my whole roll playing NL cash games, a lot live, for stakes too high. On November 13th I instacash deposited for the first time in years, for $120, a significant portion of the all the money I had to my name. I decided to go back to Sit n Gos.

Since then, I have gained an energy and motivation for poker that I havent had in a long time.

I have played nearly 2000 non-turbo sngs in that time span with remarkable results. I have moved up from $10s to now playing $50s. I have turned that $120 into well over $5000.

I was a full time sng'er a whlie ago, but moved on after a (short) bad run. At the time, I learned a lot from this board, though I didn't much. The posters I remember absorbing the most from were Gigabet, Irieguy and Raptor. I see Irie's post about how sngs suck and he doesnt play them anymore(but he still posts thankfully). Gig is gone I assume(though I just reread all his old posts a couple days ago). What about raptor?

My results then were nothing compared to what they have been this past month. I think I owe that to the experience and knowledge I gained playing MTTs, NL, Limit, PLO between stints.

It's good to be back.

Anyway, my goal here isnt really to talk about specific situations, in fact I rarely even read posts about specific hands, though maybe I will start. Moreso, my goal here is to meet other like-minded people. I'm kind of figuring out that I need to get rid of a lot of the friends in my life. I only know one other person personally thats playing poker like Im playing poker. I still like to party. And my friends arent bad people, its just that for me to get where I want in life I think I need to surround myself with positive, highly-intelligent, highly-motivated people. This board, and this forum in particular, always seemed to have an ample supply.

Yeah, I like the regulars, beyond ROI and sngs per hour, its a matter of comfort.

By the way, the few posts I made back in the day were under the display name "Arch" the mod allowed me to switch it to TotalScience, the screename I have used for about 50% of my online career and the one I currently use.

hi kyle, welcome back to STTs. good to have you back, but the following really needs to be said:

i dont, by any means want to sound like a douche when saying this, but this forum is by no means a social to start random threads. I have a lot of friends from this forum as a regular, I love talking to people and i invite you to do the same, but i just get the impression that youre not interested in strategy, and this is a strategy forum, and the reason i come here essentially every day is because im active in discussing strategy, fighting with people, understanding why i do things the way that i try to do them, etc... (and through that i have made some good ties and pals)...i just wanted to make it clear that it would upset a lot of regular posters very much if we came here to find the front 2 pages covered with threads titled "hi, dinner tonight anyone?" every other day. again, i know this sounds dickish but i am by no means targeting you, just the situation and the context. Thanks, and i hope you post some strategy for us.

I think if you are going to be an sng grinder, and you are a US citizen, you MUST file schedule C or the AGI affect will have harmful consequences at tax time.

Switching from cash to sngs is the worst idea ever.
