oh I see. Yah, ok.

Since this is 1/2, he might still have KQ or JJ, or TT. So I'm not sure cc is the best river option. But I see your point that generally he won't really call any hands that you beat. But you'll call anyway, so you might as well bet then. You'd have to call a raise. I think b/c is a better river line on loose 1/2 tables.

All looks good until the river.......

I would bet the river as he may not bet out 99-JJ, KQ, AT, etc., but he will probably call a bet as he called all the way through.

Best of luck,
Mygtar

Hmmmm, I liked calling the induced bet on the river.

Can someone explain to me, in short broken sentences, why b/c is better than c/c? Thanks.

Oftentimes, villain will check through a pocket pair, queen, or lower pair and take the free SD. He will, however, often call with these hands if hero bets the river.

Checking puts the power of whether to take a free SD/value bet into the villain's hands. He will bet the hands that usually have us beat/tied but check through weaker hands that are likely beat, causing hero to lose a bet had he bet/called.

Is the flop lead standard?

To stay on the river topic, the check-call is a good play when you put your opponent on some sort of draw that would fold the river if you bet it, but may bet if checked to, hoping you would fold, knowing they probably can't win with a showdown. Here there is no flush draw, unless your opponent raises pf w/ 34 there is no straight draw (and that got there anyway) and KQ probably folds the turn.

The flop lead for me is opponent-dependent; I don't think it's inherently bad.
