Default Razz ($1/$2): 6 hands from my first session at the game

Hello
Here are a few Razz hands that certainly betray the fact that I am new to the game. My poker library, as wide as it is, only covers Hold'em, so I was looking for some insight from the community.
Thanks a lot!

First hand you should have called on 4th street.

Second hand you should have called on 4th street and folded on 5th.

Third hand you should have called on 3rd street at best.

Fourth hand you should have folded at 3rd street.

Fifth hand you should have just called 3rd street and then the rest is fine.

Sixth hand you should have bet on 5th street.

Hand 1. OK

Hand 2. You could also flat call 3rd. I would flat call 4th. I would fold 5th.

Hand 3. I like the complete on 3rd. Bet out on 4th.

Hand 4. I would fold to the complete on 3rd, and maybe fold initially. Rest is fine.

Hand 5. Your cards are pretty dead, so I would limp and fold to a complete on 3rd.

Hand 6. Bet 5th.

I mostly agree with this, except I often play the first hand as you did (fold on 4th).

Hand 3, I think completing on third is fine. You're trying to steal from the two low cards with a buried 9. My understanding of SOP is that this is reccomended since you could win right here, plus the three card 9 has some value as a drawing hand. I'd fold 4th though since it looks like both opponents could have 4 card 7's and its going to be hard to outdraw both of them.

I'm trying to learn this game, so I'd appreciate anyone pointing out the flaws in my logic.

1) he limped, so he's probably not very strong in the hole. I think you can call 4th.

2)no need to bet 4th, fold 5th.

3)raise 3rd, bet 4th and 5th.

4)played fine

5)I think you can fold 4th.

6)bet 5th to build pot. I think you were trying to slowplay, but when you catch an ace and check it's more suspect than betting because you'd bet a bluff there.

Hand #1 - fold 4th street. Anyone who says to call is too loose. I would call if the 3rd street card was a 6, or if the villain plays 45% of all hands - but folding is fine too. Pots not large enough to continue, and only marginally large enough to continue if the villain plays a lot of hands.

Hand #2 - No reason to raise 3rd, calling is best. 5th street is really bad, fold. The hand has errors on all streets.

Hand #3 - 3rd street is perfect - ignore the advice you have seen so far telling you to call. Bet 4th street. On 5th I like the check if you think seat 7 will bet, but you have to raise to isolate! 6th street is fine, 7th is a fold.

Hand #4 - FOLD THIRD

Hand #5 - two 3's and a 4 are counterfeited, and you will need to catch cards in that range. Therefore I prefer a limp because the ante to completion ratio isn't good (but a raise isn't horrible, just not the best option). 5th street your a dog to his likely hand range, however if the villain is a total muppet I call and fold unless I catch good on 6th, and the villain's 6th street card doesn't counterfeit my range.

Hand #6 - You should be opening here on 3rd, calling isn't horrible but its far from optimal. Considering the way you played it calling on 4th is fine, bet 5th - he is calling more often than not.

wrapup - your play needs a lot of work, you should read Sklansky on Poker to help become a better player. Also posting so many hands at once is rather annoying, its probably best if you only post one hand at a time.

[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img],

I'm kinda new to razz myself. I feel that hand 1's 4th street action is a close call/fold. The villain limped in late with a 5 showing. I would take this to indicate weak hole cards. I would imagine our equity is greater than 40% on 4th and re-evaulating on 5th wouldn't be a bad decision. Can you explain why folding is clearly the better option than calling? Thanks in advance.... The villain didn't limp, he called the completion. In hold'em think of it as the equivalent of calling a raise from the small blind when there is a 1/3 blind ratio. Take this call seriously, there are many situations when the villain is wiser to call rather than raise therefore you cannot put him on a range of hands that are as week as you assume.

I thought of this, but I don't give many players at 1/2 credit for this kind of play. After you pointed out the completion, I agree the fold looks to be the better choice on 4th.

Rubbish, you can't expect to get 5 perfect cards in a row. You got 4 really good ones and then hit a K. For one more SB to see 5th street is worth it. How tight are you going to play? Obviously it depends on what your opponent(s) are showing. Still, you didn't pair up anywhere.
