I think a good argument can be made for staying tight in all out of position circumstances including blind defense because of how pronounced the positional advantage is in this game.

The fact that your opponent will get to watch you discard before acting on every round seems to suggest that its a bad idea to defend too loosely if you're going to need to draw a lot of cards. Even vs bad or aggro players, this disadvantage probably rules out a lot of hands that should be played from in position.

on the button I'd consider reraising any good two card draw like 234, 235, 237, any good one-card draw like 2345, 2346, 2347, 2457, 2467, 2567, 2348, 2358, 2368, 2378, 2458, 2468, 2478, 2568, 2578 - adding hands with appropriate reads.

The biggest problem I have is drawing the line with pat hands vs two opponents.

for example, if I'm dealt a pat 98 and the action goes bet, raise, fold, should I cap or get out of the way?

If I can cap there, should I cap a good pat ten?

what about an ugly 8 like 87653?

I have no idea.

A good pat ten isn't a pat hand, it's a good draw to a 8 or 7.

my (limited) understanding would be that you would cap a bad 8 and fold an 89. As always this would be opponent dependant
