Villain is Carrotsticks a regular 1/2 player. I guess he recently moved up. He is very straightforward so i thought this bet would stop him in his tracks.

Eww dude, fold on the flop. You have A high, calling flop is incredibly spewy.
Edit: LOL, my bad. I thought you had A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. |

Huh? your not folding flop. Sucks that hes OOP but it's only 47 to win 141. Those are decent odds.
I also like the lead here, I mean id cry when he re-raises but I think most of his range has gotta be scared and I think he just calls with a lot of holdings. |

why wouldn't even a 1/4 psb give me odds to call the flop?

That's not bad, and I'm def not folding the flop. I think you can even block/semibluff for like $90 on the turn.

i think when mikeuhj said calling flop is incredibly spewy, he meant not GOING ALLIN on the flop is incredibly spewy.

Just looking at this again I think is a prefect example of setting the price for your draw. I really like it. They might even fold who knows

I would check/call or check/push, depending on whether I thought he could fold all one pair hands or not. I don't like the lead on the turn, because you're killing your draw if he moves AI. You'll be getting ~680/320 which will probably make a call break even. Also leading the turn is less likely to fold the better one pair hands than if you check/push (if you decided he was the type to fold like top pair or overpair).
Your turn bet really doesn't accomplish much imo. You're rarely folding out anything that he rose the flop w/. If you check, he's probably betting $150 @ most. You're trying to save $50 by betting $100, but I think the times he moves AI over your bet kills that $50 you save. Plus, villain will check behind on turn sometimes. To summarize, check/call or check/push depending on read. |

well put mikeuhJ. i really believe that's the optimal play here. not to be result oriented but villain pushed his stack and i made the call. He had AJ and basically made a very good read. Had I check/pushed, it would have way less likely he would have called.

Wow I think thats very results oriented if he pushed AJ here. I would expect AJ to fold here more then anything.
