Default Greg Raymer Campaigning for Libertarian Party\'s Vice Presidential Slot

POKERNEWS.com Interview

Here's the key excerpt.

Bernard Chapin: Also, are you thinking of becoming a politician? If so, what kind of office do you desire? What types of positions would you support?

Greg Raymer: In many ways, I would not make a good politician, at least not the way the business of politics presently works in our country. I am not very good at compromising. If you convince me you are right, I will agree with you, but until you do, I will do what I think is the smartest thing to do. Having said that, I am currently talking to some people who run the Libertarian Party about the possibility of running to be the party's official candidate for Vice President of the United States. With a few exceptions, I would support the official planks of the Libertarian Party.

Prolly not a good idea to start your announcement to considering taking a position with "In many ways, I would not make a good politician".

Doesnt go over well in sound bite reporting.

Nor does saying you won't compromise if you think you are right. Especially with the Bush-Iraq situation.

yes and no, everyone hates politicians now for the most part. The more u seperate from them, and show u have a backbone might help you out in the long run, and get you coverage.

If you're an American poker player and you're voting for something other than the Libertarian party, YSSCKY.

Agreed, I wish we could get more of our brethren to see it our way though.

No, I disagree because most people associate "politician" with slick, exploiting scammers. "Leader" is what he'd be and the word with the strongest resonance.

I wish he would start smaller though. Something like the senate or the house. He's just setting himself up to fail.

Only if his goal is to actually win an office.
