Default A Survey For Poker Players

I am hoping to conduct a survey among poker players regarding their experiences playing poker online since the passing of the UIGEA earlier this year.

I am a college student and am performing some research into the effects of the UIGEA on the poker industry. I wanted to hear from the players what has and hasn't changed for them. All submissions will remain anonymous. If you are interested please take a few moments to answer these questions for me. You can send me a PM or send me an email at pokersurvey7@hotmail.com with your answers, or any questions you might have for me. Thanks for your participation.

1) How long have you been playing poker online?

2) Do you play for a living, recreationally, or for supplemental income?

3) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you play? Have you changed sites? Have you changed games? Changed the stakes at which you play? The time of day you play?

4) How has the texture of the games you play in changed?

5) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you do your transactions with the poker sites?

6) How has the UIGEA changed your plans for your future playing poker? (if you had any)

7) Would you relocate outside of the United States in order to continue playing poker profitably online?

8) Would you play full-time at brick & mortar establishments if online poker was no longer profitable or feasible?

) How long have you been playing poker online?

About 10 months.

2) Do you play for a living, recreationally, or for supplemental income?

recreationally

3) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you play? Have you changed sites? Have you changed games? Changed the stakes at which you play? The time of day you play?

Hasn't changed the way I play. I haven't changed sites, stakes, games I play, or when I play.

4) How has the texture of the games you play in changed?

The site I play on (pokerstars) has gotten juicier.

5) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you do your transactions with the poker sites?

Nope

6) How has the UIGEA changed your plans for your future playing poker? (if you had any)

Nope

7) Would you relocate outside of the United States in order to continue playing poker profitably online?

Maybe, if I was good enough.

8) Would you play full-time at brick & mortar establishments if online poker was no longer profitable or feasible?

No, not full time. I'd play at a b&m more often, which means occasionally.

1) How long have you been playing poker online?

3 years

2) Do you play for a living, recreationally, or for supplemental income?

Both recreationally and for supplemental income.

3) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you play? Have you changed sites? Have you changed games? Changed the stakes at which you play? The time of day you play?

It hasn't really affected me. I had to stop playing at PartyPoker, but I was already making the transition to another site before the UIGEA went into effect. I have transitioned more to NLH as opposed to limit ring games because I find them more profitable. Basically same stakes, same times of day.

4) How has the texture of the games you play in changed?

I find in general, the limit rings games have tightened up. This may be because fewer people are playing or because of the specific site where I now play.

5) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you do your transactions with the poker sites?

I primarily used IGMPay with PartyPoker. My secondary site has always been Neteller. Now I use them exclusively.

6) How has the UIGEA changed your plans for your future playing poker? (if you had any)

I had thought I would be playing a lot more B&M poker, but turns out UIGEA really had no effect regarding online play. If legislation makes online play more difficult or impossible, I would likely start playing quite a bit more in local casinos.

7) Would you relocate outside of the United States in order to continue playing poker profitably online?

NO

8) Would you play full-time at brick & mortar establishments if online poker was no longer profitable or feasible?

I certainly wouldn't play full-time. I would play poker at B&Ms a lot more but the amount of time a week I would spend playing poker would decrease dramatically.

1. One year exactly.
2. Recreation and Supplemental Income
3. It hasnt really affected anything about where/when I play.
4. Perhaps a bit tighter/aggressive. But it's hard to say for sure.
5. It hasnt.
6. It hasn't really changed my future plans per se... I have considered a possibly going pro if I ever become good enough...but that is more unlikely now with the threat of more legislation to come.
7. No.
8. Full time, no. If I couldnt play online I would probably go to the local casino once a week or so.

1) How long have you been playing poker online?

3 years

2) Do you play for a living, recreationally, or for supplemental income?

Guess part time pro is the best description. I spend more hours playing poker than anything else, but it isn't the sole source of my income, but it is the largest.

3) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you play? Have you changed sites? Have you changed games? Changed the stakes at which you play? The time of day you play?

I changed sites and game. Changing my game had nothing to do with UIGEA, I had been planing on switching to NL and with switching sites it was a good time to make the change.

4) How has the texture of the games you play in changed?

Not that I've seen. With so many players switching sites and with possibly some casual players quiting it would be difficult to judge this without reviewing the data from a large group of professional players.

5) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you do your transactions with the poker sites?

No

6) How has the UIGEA changed your plans for your future playing poker? (if you had any)

The possibility of me going full time pro is less. It was unlikely before. It's probably an unimportant distinction as far as poker goes. I wouldn't play any more as a full time pro, but I would travel a lot.

7) Would you relocate outside of the United States in order to continue playing poker profitably online?

If it truly became illegal, I have to think there would be ways to get around any blocks if I were motivated. If work arounds weren't availible I'd have to think hard about it. The real question would be if the inexperienced, but wealthy base would be there to insure that poker was still profitable. At this point I would doubt it.

8) Would you play full-time at brick & mortar establishments if online poker was no longer profitable or feasible?

Full time, never. I just couldn't take that. I would probably move us to stakes where I could just play 20 hours a week and still make the money I need.

1) How long have you been playing poker online?
3 years in February 2007.

2) Do you play for a living, recreationally, or for supplemental income?
for a living

3) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you play? Have you changed sites? Have you changed games? Changed the stakes at which you play? The time of day you play?
I used to play on Prima, but Battlefield blocked my state. Before that I played on Party, no longer an option. So I made an FTP account. Hasn't changed the games I play, stakes or times.

4) How has the texture of the games you play in changed?
Yes, far more regulars overall. The games are alot different imo.

5) How has the passing of the UIGEA changed the way you do your transactions with the poker sites?
no, neteller works as good as it used to

6) How has the UIGEA changed your plans for your future playing poker? (if you had any)
it's made me think a bit, but as long as things keep going as they are, no problems. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it I guess.

7) Would you relocate outside of the United States in order to continue playing poker profitably online?
probably not

8) Would you play full-time at brick & mortar establishments if online poker was no longer profitable or feasible?
maybe, but probably not
