Default Card shuffling, card skills/tricks in general

Where can i learn this by myself? Is that even possible or do i need some pro/gypsy/magician/hustler mentor?

I have a wide range of skils in mind varrying from one hand shuffling, one hand palming, fast deck cutting, some minor tricks etc etc

Any 2+2er good in this? Links, books, posts, anything is appreciated.

Thx

There was a guy named Worm that learned these, look where it got him.

I have a magician cousin, he says all this can be learned from books. Library, amazon, local Barnes and Noble. Except no card tricks are easy to learn, i.e. take a lot of practice. Time could be used to play poker.

Yeah, but knowing cool chip tricks and card tricks makes you a better poker player! You can't win pots without being able to shuffle a stack of 20.

Lay off with the sarcasm. I've spent some time training for the croupier for the roulette now i want to dedicate that time to cards.
Yes, i am aware of the time factor here.

Is someone asking how to learn to palm cards on a poker forum allowed to get PO'd if I don't take 'em seriously?

Here's a cheapie suggestion:

Royal Road to Card Magic

One handed cuts and such are pretty easy to learn with a little bit of practice. Flares and such take more practice.

I was never able to control the deck although the book's description of it is pretty good. YMMV.

I learned this one the hard way: Never show your friends your abiilities to deal seconds, false shuffle, false cut, etc.

You'll get strange, suspicious looks every time you win a pot, especially the hands you deal. It will suck all the joy out of winning a pot, or cashing out ahead.

If you are thinking about training for a job dealing cards, you don't need the "tricks". Show me you can shuffle and deal the old boring way and run/control a NL holdem, Omaha 8, and stud game. And if you ever use a "trick" when you in the box, expect to get reamed, by the players or management, or both.

I saw a dealer once, when prepping a new setup, did the switch to check the backs (after checking the cards were all there) by doing the tipple over with one card trick - thought it was kinda neat..
