Default badugi and 2-7

ok, i posted this in home poker already, but a friend of mine invented such a good game that i would write about it here. it's triple draw and the pot is split between the best badugi and the best 2-7 hand. i'm sure all you guys can figure out the best strategy for this variant. we play it half pot limit and have had some big pots develop.

you play your best four card badugi hand and your best 2-7 hand. does that make sense?

This does seem pretty awesome.

Do you keep the jack high badugi or try to improve your 2-7 hand, etc.

Don't go keeping jack high badugis. You're vastly underestimating how the fifth card changes the hand distribution. The average winning badugi hand in a loose game should be something around a rough six.

The most interesting spot is what to do with a hand like 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

OHHH no you didn't. That sounds pretty insane. The home game i play in we play dealer's choice pot limit. Dealer simply antes for everyone and there are no blinds. We play badugi, triple draw, hold em, stud and stud hi lo, omaha and o8 and some pineapple variants. This game would be too sick for us so i just might have to introduce it. pot limit of course.

We played this in our PL home game for years. It was second only to PLO8 in terms of action.

Brilliant game.
