I really like the idea of poker player alliance, and I want to join. However, from there web site it seems like they don't do anything. Links and articles never change, and I don't hear much on the forums about any actions they are taking to lobby law makers.
Does any one know what they are doing? Convince me that I'm not throwing away my money by joining poker player alliance. |

If you join through Partypoker, you get a $25 bonus, but you only have to pay $20 for a membership. It's a win-win!

I'm actually more curious if they actually do anything with the money. It almost seems like this group is just some guy taking money in a pyramid scheme. Has anyone out there actually heard about this group doing anything constructive? |

haha i get the impression that lots of people here would join NAMBLA if party offered a bonus for doing so.
I have not seen any evidence of the PPA doing much yet. They sent out a newsletter once a few weeks ago, and keep sending me t-shirts. But haven't heard much about lobbying or anything. |

The single biggest thing the alliance could do for actual poker players, IMO, is support legalized online poker in the USA. However, I wonder what PPA will do if PartyPoker is lukewarm to that idea.
The benefits of a very secure bankroll, and simplified reporting for tax purposes would bring in so many new players that it would be very beneficial to recreational poker players and professionals alike. |

The PPA -- I'm guessing -- is simply a group that Party (possibly in conjunction with other online poker rooms) has started that they can count on to want to keep online poker legal. So, they are paying you money to compile a database, and then whenever anti-online poker legislation comes up, they will send you information in the hopes that you will call your representatives and senator. Why are they doing this? Because if they can generate 100 genuine, non-form letters to each senator on demand, then the politicians will be very careful about what they do. |

Party Poker does not run the Alliance. The only affliation with PP is for exposure and getting more people signed up. Congress will be more likely to listen to a bigger organization.
The Alliance is run by the Board of Directors: Sam Gorewitz Linda Johnson Jan Fisher Greg Dinkin |

why would party be only lukewarm to this? you're not making any sense. [/ QUOTE ] If it were legal B&M casinos such as the Bellagio could setup an online room. These rooms would have a much more legitimate appearance and draw in a lot of customers. This could kill off Party and other offshore rooms. It cuts both ways, legal poker in the US would lead to a larger customer base but also increased competition. |
