player tells you he\'s got it, will show, shows bluff: thoughts?
We've done this before, but I want to do another round. This happened to me recently and I flipped. errr I was incensed. We'd been at the table for a while, good, friendly, some gamble going one. At the end of a session a player reraises me and as I'm reaching for my chips tell's me he's got it. He'll show etc. So I fold and he shows a flush draw. (note we were both the deep stacks). And, after long thought I decided that if it had been one of the more charismatic ppl at the table we could have laughed about it and gone on for battle. But instead this was one of the.... ummm sketchy ppl and I felt like a parasite had sat down at our game.
Maybe it was just me? But then the same thing happened at another table to someone else (also by someone who was toad-like) and the dude flipped out. He almost jumped the table. So now I'm thinking it's not just me. Weigh in, I'm curious where we're at? |

While I find this sort of [censored] very distasteful, I don't think that it can even be called an angleshoot. No offense, but why would you believe a sketchy, toad-like player?

Did he tell you he would respect you in the morning?
Check in the mail? He works for the Government and was there to help you? |

Yea I mean sure those people are the worst and create a less fun atmosphere at the poker table, but there is nothing you can do about it.
Boo on those toads tho |

It's all situational and it happens. Get over it.

Why would anyone ever believe what's coming out of a poker player's mouth while he still has cards?

Re: player tells you he\'s got it, will show, shows bluff: thoughts?
I find it very difficult to actually believe the player when he tells me something like this no matter how obvious it is that he probably isn't lying.
So I'm almost more surprised when he shows me that he actually was telling the truth, "See, I'm not lying to you" blah blah blah. Also, some people do actually try to be sneaky at poker. So watch out. I've seen it happen! and I imagine Matusow's and Gold's baiting on stuff like this on ESPN is only encouraging this kind of activity more and more. Get used to it. |

At Foxwoods there was a special rule during the main event. No talking about your hand while you have cards. Not even in really vague terms. Not even lying. This was enforced up to and including the TV table.
