Stupid Question? # of BB to risk depending on Hand
This might be a stupid question, but I recently switched to SSNL from SNGs and struggle with this problem. How many BB (Big Blinds) should one be willing to risk in the average game vs average opponent with these hands: (assume 3 players to the flop-100BB Stacks)
TPTK on uncoordinted board(20?)- only 2 pair+ beat us PP-Overpair to Flop (25-30?) - what if str8 or flush possible Bottom 2 pair (30?) Low Full House (50-70?) - i.e. Pocket 22 on KKQ27 board Top Straight with 3 cards of same suit on board (30?) Mid Set with possible Str8 (40-50?) - i.e. 77 on 7810A2 board PLEASE HELP- I am lost often with these situations and think some general guidelines would help. In SNGs usually people try to get it all in with TPTK+ or Pair+Draw on the flop but in SSNL this does not seem prudent. |

Re: Stupid Question? # of BB to risk depending on Hand
everything in poker is situational; know how ur opponents play and know ur table image- sometimes bottom pair is good sometimes mid set is good look at betting patterns and image and table type and opponents type of play

everything in poker is situational [/ QUOTE ] This is difficult for a lot of SNG pushbotters to understand when they first transition to cash. SNG strategy is often very 1,2,3 and scientific in nature. I suggest you get out of this mentality when you start playing cash. It is very difficult and typically incorrect to try and assign BB value to hands in a general sense. I suggest you read through the uNL and SSNL stickies. There is a wealth of information there. |

Yes, I agree with your first statement.
For your question, it is situationally dependent. |

I would estimate it for each as the amount you think your opponent would put in with the worse hands in his range.
If I were at your table i could give you better estimates.. |
