AJ, flopped an ace
Is this a reasonable way to play this hand?

Re: AJ, flopped an ace
My guess is he was slow playing the top pair just as you "might" with pocket As. Problem with slow playing a pair is you get beat by trips. Like everyone said, don't slow play here.

Re: AJ, flopped an ace
Checking the flop is terrible. This board is plenty coordinated and you have a hand to protect. Bet for value and protection.

Re: AJ, flopped an ace
Thanks. I pretty much never check in this situation, but I got a little goofy today.
Would checking be OK if the board was rainbow? |

Re: AJ, flopped an ace
EC,
It is really important to realize that you MUST bet flops that you hit in addition to those that you continuation bet. You should be betting 70%+ of flops that you raise PF and then either miss or hit (I'm closer to 90%). It allows you take down many hands and builds pots for those hands that you flop monsters. |
