Default Stars VIP freerolls Discussion

Scotty made a request for suggestions regarding the VIP freerolls here:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0#Post8193735

So heres the problems I think are present in the current system:

1: Gold-Plat freerolls have small $EV compared to the stakes the players play.

2: Freerolls are at an inconvenient time for lots of players.

3: Tourneys take forever (maybe 4 hours?) and you get like $20 win for all that work. Similar to point 1.

So here's my idea:

Give each player a "VIP T$" account. This account accrues T$ each week, gaining value based on VIP value. So if Silver weekly freeroll is worth $2, gold is worth $5, platinum is worth $10, Nova is worth $50, etc. So the Platinum would accrue roughly $17 T$ per week to spend on regular Stars tourneys. This can be stated on the site as a fixed $ amount per week, whatever.

Pros to this system:
1: Players can find a tourney "worth" their time to play in.
2: Players can choose the game they want to play. Limit grinders can play the saturday $215 limit tourney, etc.
3: Any tourney can be chosen, so more flexibility.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
4: Players feel "attached" to this system. Maybe a goldstar wants to take a shot at the big 215 sunday tourney. Well, he will be more inclined to keep his status as gold for months to come, ensuring lots of business for stars, and customer loyalty.

Additionally, the T$ for FPP's system can be easily implemented using this system. I have never had T$, but maybe having them visible in the cashier as another window would be nice.

Yeah, lets hear other suggestions. I personally like my suggestion, but ways to improve it would be awesome.

This would be uber-awesome for SNG players.

Yeah, I forgot about that too.

My thinking was these T$ are sort of like "staking dollars". All the players DREAM of being like moneymaker or raymer, getting staked in the WSOP or whatever events. Given, this is a smaller version of that, but definitely similar.

I think this is an A+ option...I would be VERY happy if they did this.

That sounds kinda like something I suggested in a thread a while back. The only difference is I don't think they should be restricted to tournament use.

Call them VIP dollars and let me buy into cash games with them. You can make it so that when I leave the game, the money goes back to VIP$ rather than real cash. So I sit down with $100 which is 25 in real dollars and 75 VIP$ and lose ten bucks when I leave I get 75 VIP$ and 15 real dollars.

Then allow some method of converting VIP$ to real dollars in the VIP store. Say 5000 FPP allows you to convert 1000 VIP$ to cash or whatever.

It just bothers me that such a large chunk of the value of being VIP comes in tournaments and I don't particularly like to play tournaments. The last Gold freeroll had almost 1600 players and lasted six hours. I don't want to spend six hours wading through 1600 people in a form of the game I don't particularly care for.

My rake is just as good as the guys who play tourneys and I'm forced to play their game. How would it be if it were changed around and 25% of the VIP value was distributed through cash games so tourney players had to play cash games to get that value? It would be pretty damn silly right?

I don't think I've even played a VIP freeroll since the spring. It's just not worth it, I doubt I would even play in the Supernova freeroll if I get there. What's the equity in a SN freeroll like maybe $60-$70? I like the T$ suggestion as long as you could accrue them for a tournament that was worth your while.

Maybe even 75% or so of the freeroll equity in FPPs would be better than getting nothing by skipping the weekly tournaments.
