Default Are the Saints the best team in the NFC?

I know some might jump on my back because the Bears lost to the Patriots, but I think the Saints are the best team in the NFC as of right now. The Giants have been playing like total junk these past couple of weeks, and all the injuries surely don't help. The Bears have played very crappy in the last couple of weeks, and their big weakness has been exposed(Pressure Rex). The Saints just seem like the total package right now. Brees is playing, and is showing why he is a top QB in the league. The defense is playing great, and they show they are one of the hardest teams to beat when playing at home. With the win over ATL yesterday, they are very close to locking the division, and locking a top seed in the NFC.

Cowboys? Saints D isn't that good. Look at all their AFC matchups.

What if the Cowboys and Saints both lose next week? Then everyone says Bears again. Bears lost @ New England, uh oh they are now 3rd best team in the league.

I still feel like the Bears are the best followed by the Saints. Jury is still out on the Cowboys, at least for one week. I know the Cowboys beat the Colts but they still have a strong possibilty of losing their division, unlike the Saints and Bears.

Either CHI or DAL. NO's defense is horrible and their running game sucks.

Right now I think you have to rank Chicago and Dallas (pretty much a toss-up regarding which of the two is better) above New Orleans.

But I do think it's much closer than some people think. The NFC is truly a crapshoot this year. I could see any of the four likely division winners making the Super Bowl (Bears/Cowboys/Saints/Seahawks), and I think Carolina has the potential to at least cause some playoff upsets.

Whoever the 6th seed is, it really doesn't matter. NYG is in full meltdown mode, Philly's season is over sans McNabb IMO, Atlanta's also in full meltdown mode, and the Niners/Vikings/Rams are just not good enough to win a road playoff game any significant percentage of the time.

That said, the Saints are easily the team I'm cheering for most besides the Niners this year, and it has little to do with all the feel-good post-Katrina vibes or Reggie Bush. The out-of-left-field emergence of Marques Colston and the development of Devery Henderson, the terrific recovery from injuries by Drew Brees and Deuce, the first year coach in Sean Payton... there's a lot to like about this team, particularly the offense. So I hope they do well, even if they must be ranked below the Bears and Cowboys right now due to a defense that is playing worse and worse as the season goes on.
