Default NLHE : Math formula for how to play Ax ?

Hello,
I want to discuss if it's possible to create a formula for knowing if we need to fold, bet, or reraise with Ax or Ax suited. In this formula, you can use what you want (your position, the value of X, the fact that is suited or not, the number of raisers or limpers before you). Everybody has the same amount of chips, you don't know your opponent's style.

Some vars:
N: The number of players
L: The number of limpers before you
R: The number of raisers before you
C: The chips
SB: The SB amount
BB: The BB amount
P: your position (for me, BB is always 10 position, if they are only 4 players, UTG is number 7)

You can put the x of Ax in categorie.
For exemple:
GROUP1: Ks, K, Qs
GROUP2: Q, Js, J, T
GROUP3: etc...
and use the "power" of a group in your formula instead of the value of x

You can use many formula you want. For example, one to know if i need to limp, fold or raise with Ax suited with x < T.

Nunrg,

It doesn't really work that way - you can't really write a relaible formula for when to raise, limp or fold, since most of the time there are table dynamics which dominate the decision making.

However, you can use math in certain cases to determine where folding is incorrect (Sklansky has numbers for this in his NLHETAP book for playing from the SB heads up against the BB), but even then math cannot absolutely dictate whether it is optimal to raise or limp.

With A5s from middle position, the correct move may be to fold, limp, raise, or move all-in, it depends on so many other factors.

If you down own a copy, I'd grab Dan Harrington's 1st book and read the section on "What is a Hand" (or something like that).

Hope this helps.
