AQs, preflop decision
UTG+1: VP$IP = ~60, PFR = ~15, TAF = 0,41 (34 hands)
CO: VP$IP = 15, PFR = 6, TAF = 8 (60 hands) SB: VP$IP = ~31, PFR = 0, TAF = 0,71 (32 hands) Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed) Preflop: Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero raises, UTG+1 3-bets, 4 folds, CO caps, 1 fold, SB calls, 1 fold, Hero folds..? This is an easy fold, right? Someone has to have atleast AK, probably a PP. I'm especially worried about CO capping (he is pretty solid player), so he has probably something like AA - QQ, maybe JJ. Or is it correct to call and see the flop, if you happen to catch a flushdraw (otherwise it will be a check /fold) ? |

Re: AQs, preflop decision
I'd call it, you're getting 7:1 to call, you can't be that much of a dog.

Re: AQs, preflop decision
You are getting 16-2 or 8-1 on the call(Since utg+1 and sb are going to call). If I remember correctly, you'll flop a flush draw around 8.5-1, so you're almost there. Plus your aces might be good, and you also have some 2 pair/straight possibilities. You have awful position of course, and you might call a raise on the flop only to be re-raised and capped behind you. Play cautious on the flop.

Re: AQs, preflop decision
Okey, I did call. The flop came A-high (rainbow) and the sb checked, I bet, UTG+1 called, CO folded and sb raised. I folded. SB had set of Aces and UTG+1 had set of tens.

Yes, there was one heart on the flop and the ten came on the river.

Re: AQs, preflop decision
*grunch*
Funny... you probably ruined SB's day. He probably expected you to call to give him odds for *his* suited connector I wouldn't be too worried about PPs. Odds are that CO was trying to isolate UTG+1 (who plays far too many hands to be assumed to hold a monster) so CO's range could be much looser than you'd think... TT, AKs, AQs, possibly even AJs if you're known to be tight and he thinks he can fold you out. You're behind the top 3 pairs (3:1 against KK, a little worse against QQ) and a headsup coin flip with all the others. Your Q is probably a good out and your ace is probably dominated. Naturally, your flush draw is good. Basically, you've nearly the odds to chase your flush draw alone and you shouldn't completely discount your high card strength; just play carefully when you see broadway on the board. FLOP: As far as check/fold goes, it depends upon the action. If you're closing the action for one bet and you hit a piece of the flop (Q, BFSD, BDFD), are you automatically giving up on this? |
