Getting rid of the junk that comes with new notebooks...
I just got a new laptop, and I have an external HD that I backed up all my files from my other laptop on. I'm trying to delete all this junk that came with my computer.
The computer is a Toshiba, and it comes with McAfee Anti-Virus, but I use AVG. for some reason it won't let me delete McAfee, and I'm having trouble getting a program out of the system tray. As much as I'm loving the new notebook, I hate the headache of getting this other junk off. Can anyone help? |

I would like an easy answer if anyone has it for this too. You should be able to uninstall Mcafee, I have heard of people saying you need the disk, if not, use the uninstall programs utility. I normally just delete everything I know Im not going to need manually, which takes a while.

Re: Getting rid of the junk that comes with new notebooks...
It is truly amazing how much pure crap they load ondesktops/computers these days.
Personally I favor a reload if they include real windows disks. But this usually requires some preplanning and downloading drivers and stuff. Uninstalling everything works, but it leaves bits & pieces of the crap laying around... |

Re: Getting rid of the junk that comes with new notebooks...
what meech said is true, if u decide to clean install from another windows CD, u lose the drivers...u can get them back by going to the manufacturer's site and finding ur model...this makes getting ur drivers a bit easier...still, it's a little annoying to do, but it might be the best idea if u don't want stupid little files being stuck around...
