Default Old DOS game - Scorched Earth

I remember playing it waaaay back in the early 90's. I have found a downloadable version but unfortunately when the .exe file starts, the res on my computer shifts to something worse than 800x600 (which is fine) but the display is just a crapload of vertical lines and moving colours.

Has anyone got either a) an idea of how to fix this or b) a version that actually works? Have been dying to play this game again for ages now.

Try finding a program called DosBox. I think I've used it before to play old DOS games, possibly including SE.

Amazing game btw.

You should check-out this web page that lets me search for other web pages. It's awesome.

I found Scorched Earth 2000. It's java based, so it plays in your browser, but it has full online multiplayer support (with AI enemies if you want). At 8:30AM EST, there are 5 players online, so it seems to have a decent user-base, even if the last time the code was updated was 2004.

I also don't know how to connect with other players. Thanks for finding this version, although I am aware of Google, this wasn't what I was after - but close enough.

Can you play it at all? Just against cpu? I try to register a user name but it says "can't connect to server."

Why don't you just play "Worms" which is like the same but 100x better?
