With how many blinds you start pushing?
I play the HU turbos at Stars so the blinds increase fast. Lots of tourneys end with a coinflip.
When do you start normally to push preflop? In my opinion between 10-15 blinds depending on villain. If villain is very passive I wait longer because they fold most of the time after the flop. The better the villain the earlier I start pushing. What do you think? How do you adjust to your opponents? The correct pushbotting is crucial for the winrate. slimbob |

Re: With how many blinds you start pushing?
Under 10 blinds it isn't correct to push every hand. You must use SAGE.
The fact you are more likely to push against a better player... is weird... a better player will correctly call with K5 a lot more often than a weak player. Also, I would tend to push more against passive players than bet a flop... what happens the time he calls your flop bet... he could flop a set and he won't raise, he's passive... then the pot is so big you feel REQUIRED to push the turn or river. Make the passive guy fold/call preflop for all your chips. I definitely don't think there is a formula of when you should push... like you said, it depends on the villian. Also, with this discussion... you could talk about when you call an all in by your opponent when you have <20 BB's... A9s? KJo? That will be just as interesting. Unfortunately, it will also be unanswerable. ~rob |

Re: With how many blinds you start pushing?
If my opponent is agresive:
and pushing/raising huge alot and stacks are 10-15x blinds than i check/complete-call all in with marginal hands that i would otherwise raise for value (like a-5 and k-8). With passive oppoenents: I usualy start raisng 1/3 of my stack preflop and pushing all flops with a range dictated by exactly how passive oponnent is. (This may go down to even k-2 or q-7) So basiclay i try to find my opponents weakness and adjust accordingly |

wasn't implying you were... I was just making an informative statement for all those fools who might turn to autopush under 10BBs

Re: With how many blinds you start pushing?
For me, the pushing range is very dynamic. It will change depending on how much I've been pushing, how wide I think villain's calling range is, how badly I can outplay villain postflop, etc.
Many peoples' calling ranges are too small, and pushbotting will have interesting effects on opponents who aren't sure how to adjust properly. Experiment with it. |

You must use SAGE.~rob [/ QUOTE ] As usual I disagree with you Rob :-)...SAGE is optimal against an opponent that plays perfectly, plays better than yourself or uses the system himself. It is by no means optimal against an opponent who either calls or folds too much. SAGE insures no one can have an edge AGAINST you, but it doesnt maximize your own edge against meduocre opposition. It is like game theory in poker: Ufck game theory if you have a great grasp on your opponents play and try to play exploitive poker, not theoretically optimal poker. Goldmund |

6 to 8 [/ QUOTE ] I agree. I start pushing when either Villain or I have an M=5. |
