Default Pro Football HOF selectee Richard Dent

I was looking at the Bears website and stumbled across this:

Richard Dent on his HOF bid.

What do you guys think? HOFer or not quite?

I don't see how Dan Hampton can be in the HOF and Dent not.
He'll get in eventually, it just takes a while sometimes.

HOF by year of induction

3-6 each year. One coach/owner and/or one "old timer" can mean that only 2 or 3 "recent" players get in.

HOF by position

Only two linemen (Long and White) who played after Hampton retired in 1990 are in. Hampton got in 12 years after retirement. This is only 9 for Dent.

I'm not even going to bother looking at the stats. I'll just say that I was watching football fairly closely when Dent played and he was awesome. Subjectively speaking, I'm sure he deserves it.

There are a lot of players who deserve to be in the hall right now who aren't. How the F is Ken Anderson not in the hall, for example?
