Default Tipping Question (standard)

I am sure this has been discussed before, but let me ask my own questions:

in a 3/6-6/12FL game, how much is appropriate to tip on a pot of:
A. $10-20
B. $21-50
C. $51-80
D. $80+

2. Is it alright to tip on every other pot you win?

3. If you chop a pot and basically just win your money back (assuming the pot was significant), should you still tip?

i am talking about good etiquette, not whatever i want. why should i just not tip at all then? more money for me. we tip to support the dealers, we tip because we feel we have to. $1 seems standard at my level. i've split a pot with the dealer before though, i get creative sometimes.

My personal answers

A - nothing
B-D - $1

2. No. It screws some dealers out of a tip.

3. If I chop a small pot I don't tip, if its big I'll tip even if it means I don't really win anything.

Of course ScottHoward actually has the correct answers to all of your questions, I just felt like being nice.

Its alot like asking what percentage of your income you should give to charity. There is no one right answer.

Room where I usually play just installed abacusses. (abacci?) Really neat. Two unusual things about them: Made in Mexico, not somewhere in Asia; not electronic. I think they're slightly tilted in the dealer's favor, too.

We are generally pretty lenient about tipping threads lately, because in every recent situation the topics have been new enough that the thread was valid.

But since the OP didn't follow the rules in the stickies and the topic has no redeeming value except to potentially cause a flame war, I've decided to lock the thread.
