Default Bloc Party-Weekend in the City

My roommate was able to find the new Bloc Party album leaked on the internet. I have listened to it a few time and think it is a very solid follow-up album, although not as good as Silent Alarm. The album starts out very strong (Song for Clay, Hunting for Witches, Waiting for the 7.18 are all possible singles, IMO) and remains solid throughout but loses some steam in the middle. I'm not a great music critic, but as a Bloc Party fan I am very happy with the new album. I think most Bloc Party fans will also enjoy it.

Well, so I don't have to send out a bunch of PMs, my roommate doesn't remember the site he found the torrent. He just googled 'bloc party torrent' and found it on one of those sites.

Mods-I don't think there is a problem with me saying that, but if there is just delete this post.

i found the link a little over a week ago and it was removed a day later. not sure if it has been listed again.

i must say that i agree with BWebb's description. tracks 1-4 are awesome then it kind of trails off and makes you wanna skip a tracks.

on a side note BWebb has excellent taste, SFGiants & Bloc Party.

I have it, but I'm a slacker and haven't listened to it yet. I'll accommodate a few of you. PM requests.

This album is different from the Silent Alarm. It's not chock full of the super-catchy OMG! singing that hook for a week songs. They scaled back from the full on dance CD and seem to have tried to diversify their work a little bit. If you're looking for a CD you can put on your iPod and let play through at your next indie dance party night, this isn't TOTALLY it. There are still some good dance tracks on here, notably, as the OP said, on the first half of the CD.

The upside, for me at least, is that their slower songs are actually pretty good. Many of the new songs evoked thoughts of Morrissey and Robert Smith, along with New Order and Joy Division. You can definitely see Bloc Party's influences from the 80s shine through on many of the songs.

Edit: This album reminds me a lot of The Faint as well
