Saturday afternoon\'s burger craving (re-lived on \"my sunday\")
Saturday afternoon's burger craving (re-lived on "my Sunday" and most's "Monday"). My mom's burgers were always a favorite of mine growing up, ranking much higher on my scale than any fast food burger with the exception of the Carolina Classic at Wendy's.
Toppings... warm: bacon, swiss cheese, mushroom. cold: lettuce, onion, usually tomatoes not during this time of year condoms: mayo (both sides...Dukes!), ketchup, horseradish mustard. Bacon... After reading/seeing bad_beatz's post on bacon sandwich, I decided to not cook my bacon laid straight in the pan...and I am now a pretty big advocate of the tangled result. Burger Meat 2/3rd lbs of 85/15 ground beef...yum. Any thing leaner and your shorting yourself on natural fatty flavor. Seasoning/flavoring the meat includes some chopped onions and garlic and some Worcestershire sauce. Mushrooms Baby bellas sliced and sauteed at medium to high heat in olive oil with some garlic tossed in at the remaining few minutes. Cooking... Dear Santa - please bring me a grill for xmas. Until then looks like I'm cooking the patty in the bacon grease left over. I had already toasted the buns a bit and now I have the patty topped with the mushrooms under one slice of swiss on the bottom bun and bacon under another slice of cheese on the top bun. Both bun-sides are already topped with mayo. cheese mush cheese burger bacon mayo mayo BOTTOM BUN TOP BUN Final Pics... |

No sauteed onions is a big mistake. [/ QUOTE ] I have battled with this in the past, but there is something about biting into a cool crisp red onion slice in the middle of a juicy warm burger that really hits the spot. sauteed onions on a steak and cheese on teh other hand... |

Buy a grill you loser. [/ QUOTE ] the complex we live in does not allow personal grills and provides "community" grills along the walking path behind the complex. The closest one is about a 75yrd walk so its out of the question until they make ephedrine legal again...or until FFK volunteers to cook the meat. 1 more year here and then I will be buying a place (and a grill)!!!!!!!!! whooooooooot!!! |

B - Why would ephedrine help? And what's a Carolina Classic? [/ QUOTE ] R - ephedrine is an energy supplement equivalent to lots of coffee. took it daily during college for at least 2 yrs until it was banned by our old fashioned government. Wendy's Carolina Classic Burger: hamburger topped with mustard, onions, chili and slaw it was a specialty burger when I was in middle and high school...but I haven't been to a Wendy's in the "Carolinas" since I left for college 6+ years ago. $1 on days that UNC Tarheels won basketball and/or football (i forget). it no longer sounds like a great burger, but back then I used to love it w/ a 5 piece nugget and medium fries. wiki: "In portions of the Carolinas, for instance, a Carolina-style hamburger "with everything" may be served with cheese, chili, onions, mustard, and cole slaw (usually a vinegar-heavy slaw with little or no mayonnaise), and national chain Wendy's sells a "Carolina Classic" burger with these toppings in these areas." |
