Default John Irving - Recommend What to Read Next

So I just finished reading The Cider House Rules (haven't seen the movie). What a wonderful book. It balances a good use of humor but staying serious enough to keep the reader interested and caring about the characters.

Prior to this the only other Irving book I read was The World According to Garp; which I also enjoyed, though not as much as The Cider House Rules.

I'm curious to read some other work of his, and I'm looking for suggestions on where to go next. I'm also curious about the movie. I know it got lots of critical acclaim, but how does it match up compared to the novel? Is it worth checking out?

I'm a huge fan of John Irvings work. I'd go with 'A Prayer for Owen Meaney' followed by 'The Hotel New Hampshire.'

My favorite of his is The Hotel New Hampshire.

I've read everything John Irving has ever written. A Prayer for Owen Meany is his best work.

I mean you no disrespect, Swede, but this is not a lounge thread. If you're looking for advice strictly from fellow loungers (rather than discussing something at length), I encourage you to use the monthly B&S thread, which was created for all lower-content chat.
