For the last couple of months I've been playing quite a lot of squash, say one hour, five times a week. I'm a good weight for my height but don't eat particularly well, very little fruit/veg.
Anyway, my knees have been hurting quite a bit for the last month or so. I've heard cod liver oil could help with this? I'm heading to the supermarket shortly, feel free to recommend any other vitamins and [censored] that I should pick up. I know very little about this stuff as you can see. Thanks. |

First and foremost make sure you've got decent shoes. When I was really active in sport i trained up to 25+ hours a weak with shoes that where just awful. Destroyed my knees pretty badly.

You could try glucosamine... I hear that may help joint pain.

I'd imagine icing your knees and strengthening your quads would have a greater chance of working, but I'd be very interested to hear if any other remedies work. I've been playing squash lately as well, and it's also an absolute killer on my knees, exacerbated by the fact that I run about 40 miles a week.

Yeti,
have you taken any time off in between squash sessions? You say 5 times a week, maybe your knees haven't had a chance to heal? |

Yeti,
I'd suggest more working out and more stretching. |

Shaj,
Good point. I've had a number of short breaks in that time. I've played once in the last 7 days and my knees feel pretty good right now, but after playing tonight and tomorrow I imagine they will feel crappy again. Diablo, Another good point. I don't work out and I don't stretch. The latter is undoubtably pretty terrible and I should rectify it immediately. These are all good points, but I guess what I'm looking for is testimonies of those who have used vitamins. I'm just interested in if taking this stuff can have any noticeable benefits, even if they are only small. |

Yeti,
I'd advise you stretch before and after your squash sessions and do additional strengthening exercises for your knees. (box jumps, squats, etc...) I take a multi-vitamin and a vitamin C pill every morning, so I'm not much help there. My knees are officially wrecked too.
