Default How good is David Sklansky?

Seeing the thread in the High Stakes Limit forum about the 100/200 Bellagio hand with David Sklansky got me thinking...

How good is David Sklansky? How would he fare against the top players in the various games? Or put another way, what's the biggest game he could consistently beat?

I'm not a high stakes player, so I just don't have any way of figuring this out on my own - I'm not qualified to have an opinion on the skill level of anyone who plays anything 100/200 or above. So I am mostly interested in hearing the opinions of high stakes players, especially if you've played against DS.

my guess is that david could beat any cash game (only talking hold 'em ) that he was substantially bank-rolled to play. (apart from any of his equity holdings--2+2 etc). so, i think if he had a 4-5 mil. roll, he could hold his own in the "big game" , 2k/4k................b

Wasn't he the guy in Barry G's book who kept folding to the reraising maniac over and over no matter that he was doing it every hand.. Perhaps his game although strong in certain areas, are completly lacking in others.

The answer to this thread will always be:

Could he, maybe. Does he, no.

He is quite content in the highish mid stakes games live in vegas. Im sure not even he will say he is in the top ten world wide.

lol. he's not that good guys. If he could beat the big game regularly, he'd obviously be playing in it.

When I read that part I did not think it would have been Sklansky but I really don't know.
I would think Sklansky is smart enough to recognize when a maniac is playing like an idiot and would be able to make appropriate adjustments.

There are other authors out there who I would not be as sure about.

Shame that Barry tells us these stories but leaves us hanging as to the identities. He doesn't feel it is appropriate to share the names I guess.
But that doesn't help appease my own curiousity of course.
