Small $105 tourney in Florida, blinds go up quick.
In this instance, the blinds are 100/200. Aggressive, loose player in MP makes it 900 to go after one limper. You have JJ and you have the MP covered by 1700 chips. You've been a solid player thus far and have a good beat on the whole table (mostly old conservatives). You also won this tournament a week ago and are recognized by many in the room from it. What's the play? |

More info is definitely needed to properly address the question...but from the little you've given (quick structure, LAGish raiser, your image) I would recommend shoving PF.

what r stack sizes and what position r u in [/ QUOTE ] I had around 4k, he had the 900 he bet plus another 1700. He was in MP, I was MP+2 (LP) Can anyone make an argument for smooth calling? |

The only argument I can see to smooth calling is that if you call he might be aggro enough to shove the flop even he doesnt hit his hand and you call with a favorable look as opposed to him folding a worse hand if you come over the top now. But do you wantto have to make this decision?

IF U WERE OUT OF POSITION U COULD SMOOTH CALL AND PUSH IF FLOP IS NOT SCARY. IF IT COMES ACE KING RAG YOU'VE SAVED YOURSELF MONEY. BUT IN POSITION HES GOING TO PUSH ON FLOP REGARDLESS SO MOVE IN NOW

Clear push or fold situation. Smooth calling is just going to make decisions tougher on later streets. In this case I might be folding depending on my read on the limper, also there's still possible action behind me and I don't want to be potentially committing my whole stack at this stage. I much prefer to control the action with JJ - ie opening the pot and being in better position.
