I have a very small bankroll and only play the .05/.10 NLHE tables at UB and FullTilt. When I lose $ against idiots I wonder if I should move up--do people play better at higher stakes? Or should I just be more patient.
Thanks <font color="green"> </font> |

People do play better at higher stakes. That's where you want to be, with the good players. Or, you can just play like an idiot and win at the lower stakes like all the other idiots do.

There's nothing magical that turns a non-winning player at a low level into a winning player when he moves up a level. |

do people play better at higher stakes? [/ QUOTE ] Take a wild guess???? Seriously, If you have a small bankroll, stay at the lowest limits where you can play with minimum risk of going busto. Read, study, ask questions- build your bankroll and move up WHEN appropriate. Ian |

Simply put. You're not as good as you think you are if you're saying what you just said. Those games are extremely beatable. You're just not playing optimally. AA is not your bread and butter. Hands that make flushes and straights against many opponents are.
Your game might be better adapted for a bit higher level, but you will miss out on how to correctly play the tables you're at now? Why is that important? Because when you eventually try to play at a B&M, you'll need that micro limit knowledge and you won't have it because you skipped too early. So you'll curse the bad players for losing, and not that you didn't know what you needed to. Don't make the sacrifice until you figure it out. |

Your last sentence is spot on: at these tables, be patient and wait for good hands. Then bet when you beat them. only bet or raise when you have a hand that you think is best.
If you do this, and lose the showdown often, adjust your thinking. |

Thanks for all your comments. To be more specific, I have a problem playing hands where the flop comes rags. I'm never sure how to play correctly.
For example, if I've raised 3x bb pf with something like AK, trying to weed out the field,(which often doesn't work at these limits, everyone stays in the hand) and the flop is rags, if I try and make a continuation bet and I get called or reraised I usually end up folding because I'm not sure at that point that I have the best hand and I don't want to throw more money into the pot. I guess I'm trying to find the balance between aggression and donk-dom. |

Also you dont HAVE to continuation bet every time you raise AK preflop..it depends. in all seriousness, if you arent able to beat these games then you shouldnt move up but you should study and get some appropriate books to read. goodluck. |

There are no idiots playing poker on the internet. There are no morons either. There are:
a)People who are temporarily outdrawing you. b)People who are playing better than you. c)People who are playing better AND outdrawing you. d)People you are playing better than. At the higher levels you will find: The same number of a, more of b and therefore more of c, Less of d. |
